The big picture The 10-year real yield reached 2.95% earlier this month, its highest since November 2008. It sits at 2.74% now, still higher than on 99% of the 5,913 trading days on record since 2003. The real yield is what a 10-year Treasury pays after expected inflation, read off inflation-protected Treasuries. Those have only traded since 2003, so that is as far back as the comparison goes. Readings this far from the middle of their own history are rare by definition. They describe an unusual condition, not what happens next. How we rate signals High: a validated insider cluster (several insiders buying within 30 days, no sales since), a CEO, CFO, president or chair buying on the open market, or two independent signals on one stock. Medium: a single insider purchase, a short-dated out-of-the-money options trade, or a 3-year positioning extreme in a major market. Low: dark-pool spikes on their own, and everything else.
